Celebrating 120 Years: USA ROTC and Partners Unite for Environmental Sustainability in Guimaras

In honor of the University of San Agustin’s 120th anniversary, the USA ROTC Unit, together with CWTS reservists, USA ROTC Golden Eagles Association, AGSO, Agustino Para sa Tao, SACEO, and USA Publications, joined forces for an impactful environmental project on August 23, 2024. The NSTP Tree Planting activity at Sapal, San Lorenzo, Guimaras, exemplified the collective dedication to ecological preservation and community service.

Under the theme “Ka-USA sa Pag Amlig sang Dunang Manggad,” the event motivated young leaders to take active roles in environmental sustainability. Spearheaded by Ms. Ma. Consejo Centino, USA-NSTP Head, and with vital support from USAGE Inc., participants planted over 160 diverse tree seedlings. This initiative aimed to enrich the natural landscape of the area, which is envisioned to host future recreational infrastructure by the university.

Notable alumni from USAGE Inc. actively participated, including RG88 Rolly B. Figueroa, RG86 Julieto L. Estoque, RG16 April Joyce Josue, RG22 Shaina G. Doronila, RG22 Angeli Marie Abastillas, RG23 Sarah Andrea Matulac, RG23 Angelyn Aguilar, and RG24 Hazy Keah Ballaret. Their involvement highlighted the enduring impact of USAGE Inc.’s advocacy for environmental initiatives.

Key representatives from USA ROTC and NSTP, such as LTC Rudante V. Dolar, GSC (RES) PA – also an honorary member of USAGE Inc., MSg Licurgo Arnold P. Duron (Res) PA, Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon OSA (NSTP Regent), and Engr. Rizalde Monserate of AGSO, further emphasized the event’s significance.

This tree planting activity embodied the Augustinian spirit of Caritas, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the environment and the community. It reinforced USAGE Inc.’s mission of leading through service, collaboration, and discipline. As the seedlings grow, they will stand as a testament to the unity and purpose of the USA community in creating a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.
